I have a 55 gallon freshwater fishtank with 1 angelfish on the bigger side, 7 small tetras and 5 small irridescent sharks. I keep the light on during the day and off at night. It seems as if my irredescent sharks are being killed by the light because when it is on they act dead, but as soon as i turn it off they swim around like crazy. The past few days i have just left the light off completely and the sharks seem to be doing very well, but i know this is bad for my other fish so i’m just wondering why the sharks are resonding to the light like this? Is there a peticular kind of bulb i should be using?

I currently just bought a 3 gal Marineland Eclipse 3 fish tank with the right size cartridge and bio wheel. My old tank didnt have that. About a week after I cleaned and treated the water and put my Tetras in the tank my water turned smokey, makes it hard to see the fish with out the light on. The fish move around fine in it still. I just don’t know how to get rid of the smokey water color or what caused that being I have a newer tank I am not familiar with how to trouble shoot it or if I should start over?

I’M BACK!!!! asked:
I have had fish tanks for years. I only have a 55 gal and a 10 gal tank now. I have only had freshwater fish and that is the only experience I have with fish. I have always wanted to have a saltwater tank. The fish are much prettier. How hard is it to switch over? What supplies would I need? All the info you can give would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I caught a small brown salamander in a lake, I placed it in my fishtank with goldfish. Will it be fine in there? Will it eat the fish flakes food?
