   I think the only type of fish that don’t need a pump might be gold fish. Everything else needs air to be pumped through the water.

   For your fish to have babies it’s best that you have a pump, a heater, a filter, and some plants for them to lay their seeds on. $500 is not worth it to buy fish for a small tank. I suggest you get two or three gold fish or 5 guppies as they are easy to maintain. Just make sure to change 20% of the tank water everyweek. Good luck!!

   Betta fish are probably the best cause they can tolerate it. If you want fish to have babies, then BUY A PUMP and get freshwater fish.

    Bettas can live in a tank without a pump. you will need to change the water every few days.

    With a pump and wanting your fish to have offspring, you can get guppies, Mollies, Platy’s and Swordtails. These fish are easy to breed and rather colorful.

    You can get a decent setup for less than $200 with everything you need so I fail to see your issue here. Go to your local fish store and I’m sure they can help get you the proper setup.

    well if your going to use 500 dollars u can buy a tank and a pump and sill have like 200 dollars left over…or u can get a Betta or gouramis if u don’t want to buy a pump
