  1. koi! or gold fish

  2. Small colorful fish would be Guppies. The males colors are fantastic and can be easily manipulated by a breeding colony. If you want bigger fish try some Cichlids. I personally like Angelfish. They come in about 6-7 different types of Angelfish and a couple would be nice in a 50 gallon along with some tank mates. Id read up about angelfish though as if you keep them in groups, eventually they will pair up and mate and then they become aggressive and attack any fish that is in the tank protecting their eggs.

  3. i personally like african cichlids i have a 75 gal with about 7 in there and 2 irredescent sharks they do get very colorful. another good choice would be a discus they are beautiful fish very bright color(bright orange, blue, purple ext.) and they get pretty big. oscars might also be a good fish for you i have 3 of them the biggest one is about 8 inches long and about 4 inches. they are aggressive though but they get large depending on what size fish u want i think the cichlids are perfect for a 50 gal

  4. Goldfish are FILTHY, try platys, mollies, rosy barbs, neons, guppies, tiger barbs. Make sure you go with the same type, like non agressive, semi agressive or agressive, and make sure you cycle your tank.

  5. you could keep some american cichlids — one of my favorite larger fish are the eartheaters.

discus are probably the large colorful fish of choice.

  6. African Cichlids - They have all the color of saltwater fish but not as difficult to keep. The trick is finding a local pet store that carries them.

  7. African cichlids would be good for color. Most of them get absolutely beautiful! Most get around 6 inches depending on what kind you choose.
Petsmart has a decent variety of them…
