What is a cool looking freshwater fish that would be good for a 2.5 gallon tank?
Luekas asked:
I have a 2.5 gallon that I wan’t to put something in. I wan’t one fish that likes to be alone and will stay small. Or a fish that stays small that likes to be kept in group of two or three. Anyone know of any good fish?

Bettas are solitary fish especially male ones, they can be kept in 2.5 gallon tanks, but preferably something larger. Or you can place a couple neon tetras or even maybe 2 guppies, just make sure they’re not a male and a female.
Also depends on the ability for the amount of water to keep a low ammonium/nitrate/nitrite levels and overall stability.

That sure is a small tank, but best bet would be some zebra fish. They like to be in a group so get at least two but no more than three. They tend to chase each other so its not so boring, like seeing one, just floating around.

Unless you have a heater for this 2.5 gallon tank, there are only a couple of freshwater fish that will live in cold water. Goldfish are one and the white cloud mountain minnow is another. Goldfish are very dirty fish and require a lot of maintenance. The white clouds are from China and need a current in their tank. A good air pump and air stone would suffice. They are small and you could have about 3-4 in that tank, but no more.
Bettas (pronounced bet-tah, not bay-tah) are tropical fish and require a temp of 80 degrees. If they are kept in cold water, they will die an early death at your hands. Their immune systems do not work at cold temps.

Male Bettas are the most colorful for a tank that size.
