I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank that has been established for approximately 2 months. I recently added very finely crushed coral for my substrate and am planning on housing the tank with a few different African Cichlids.

1) Can I add plants to my tank using what I have?

2) Is it time consuming? (More than a couple of hours a week)

3) What is CO2 Fertilization? I’ve read to do this in some different literature I’ve found. Does any know if it is costly? (More than $20 a month.)

So I’m planning to change all the water in my fish tank and clean all the ornaments inside and the rocks.And refill it with freshwater all over again are they’re any pH pills or other stuff I need to be sure my fish are gonna be healthy and the water is gonna be nice for them?

Some of the fish have chunks missing out of their side and back fins as well. I have already treated them for rot fin. I have one red tailed shark, four rainbow sharks, three bala sharks, indesent shark, a yellow and black striped fish, red parrot fish who has nothing missing but he never chases the other fish, I also have four algae eaters, three plectos, three african clawed frogs, two puffers, one peacock ell, and snails. Its a 70 gallon tank.

Hi, I just set up my first aquarium. It is 10 gallons size. I filled it with filtered water(brita filter) Installed the mechanical filter (with biobag in it) Installed the heater. The mechanical filter is running and cycling the water.

My question is whether I need to purchase an oxygenator (other name) the submerged device that will keep generating air bubbles.

Later I intend to put guppies, tetras, and a couple shrimp into this aquarium.
