I have a 55 gallon freshwater fishtank with 1 angelfish on the bigger side, 7 small tetras and 5 small irridescent sharks. I keep the light on during the day and off at night. It seems as if my irredescent sharks are being killed by the light because when it is on they act dead, but as soon as i turn it off they swim around like crazy. The past few days i have just left the light off completely and the sharks seem to be doing very well, but i know this is bad for my other fish so i’m just wondering why the sharks are resonding to the light like this? Is there a peticular kind of bulb i should be using?

Its 3 years old and is regularly maintained. Its 20 gallons. It has developed a foul odor almost overnight. Ive never had this problem before. Do you have any thoughts on this.
There is a ten gallon tank in another room in the house that is doing the same thing.
Fish appear healthy and lively as usual.

The temperature is on average 68-70 in our place anyway.
But not sure if just a tank a water would stay this temp w/out a heater inside
Having tropical fish you have to have a heater, however what abt plain freshwater fish?
Looking into getting an aquarium soon :o)

Princezz asked: I want to buy a freshwater fish/shrimp that cleans the aquarium, so that it remains clean. But the problem is I don’t know the name of those type of shrimps/fishes. And I want one that won’t eat my guppies.
I also want a type that cost LESS and won’t eat my guppies. Thank you!

I know 20 gallons cant handle big fish or very many, but what are some of your favorite freshwater fish that could go in one?

bham_guy331 asked:
I recently got a 14 gallon freshwater aquarium. After letting the tank filter out and reach 75 degrees (about 2 days), I started adding fish. I added about 9 fish in 2 days. They were all fine until about 2 days ago. They all died within 1 day of each other. This was about 3 weeks after I got the aquarium. How do I keep them alive? Also, what are some good fish to keep in it?

I have a 20 gallon tank. I want to know what you need to set it up. Also I want to know what fish get along with each other. I don’t want Tropical Fish. I want to have that one fish that you always see on the glass sucking the algae. What fish get along with that? Do you have a 20 gallon aquarium at home and if you do what fish do you have and what equipment do you have.
