What aggressive freshwater fish can I keep in a 10 gallon aquarium?
pnoiz1 asked:
Besides Cichlids, since they tend to get big in size, what freshwater fish can I keep in a 10 gallon aquarium that are aggressive enough to eat live food? Feeder fish, crickets, etc.

You can basically get any type of aggresive fish as long as you only have one of the. As soon as you get 2 you will be in big trouble. A 10 gallon tank is very small though. I think you should get a bigger tank and then get 1 fish.

BETTAS!!
they are great in 10 gallon tanks, they come in variety of great colors and they have different fin shapes.
they dont like alot of water movement though, i’d suggest a sponge filter if you dont already have a different kind.
they LOVE bloodworms, but pellet food is sufficient

Usually, I would completely agree about the Bettas being the most aggressive but then you have Oscars, Cichlids, and sometimes Gouramis are agressive! I used to have 5 Gouramis, well needless to say if they wouldn’t let the other fish eat, I had to move them to a different tank. I had to move them and after so long if they didn’t kill each other they died of boredom.

Why does everyone say betta…If you want a really cool fish that likes to fight and is a BIG eater, i would definetly say a dwarf puffer fish. They are so awesome, im gonna get mine some time this weekend. Your tank is the same as mine and is about the perfect size (5 gal per dwarf puffer, although i think i will only have one because 2 might be aggresive to each other and i dont have TONS and TONS of plants) Remember to do lots of research before buying ur dwarf puffer because they really are awesome. they actually learn to recognize you, and not a blurred thing that gives them food like most other fish do. you can even hand feed it if you want. Its a omnivore, meaning it eats both plants and meat, but it is much better for their diet if they have more meat. They love eating live blood worms, and snails as well. check out , its a great site to help start your research. happy hunting for fishies. one more thing, like the website says somewhere in it, lots of ppl think these fish are brackish, but it really is PURE FRESHWATER. it can live in brackish but will have a smaller life span and prolly be more stressed and unhappy. also check out the website. its pretty cool, tells u 10 nice facts.
