does it matter if I use aquarium salt for freshwater fish for my 2 new hermit crabs?
dc asked:
I searched online and found some recommended salt for marine fish.
As of now I only have aquarium salt for freshwater fish.
However, the guy at the store said that table salt is fine.

ideally, saltwater fish salt is better because it has all the necessary nutrients in it
hermit crabs are really flexible though, they can live in most any water
Oh, but not iodized salt!!!! poisonous to them

Of course the guy at the pet store said it would be fine, that way if the first one you buy dies he gets to tell you it must have caught spiriomunchbakkens virus and you need to disinfect your tank with this expensive stuff he happens to sell then buy another crab.
They make their money of people like yourself who haven’t done any research other than to trust what they say. Admittedly you should be able to trust them but unfortunately you can’t.
The ordinary aquarium salt is better than not using any until your marine salt is delivered but not table salt
