Freshwater fish that eats other small fishes?
IgotQs asked:
I have an extra 25 gallon fish tank and I want to find a fish that don’t get too big and eats guppies, feeder goldfishes or other fishes kinda like a oscars.
I don’t want to impress friends, I just want something different and I have another 40 gallon tank but it is currently full of other fishes.

For that kind of fish you probably need a bigger tank.

African Cichlids are good for that they only get about 4-6 inches long and will eat anything smaller than they are that includes ghost shrimp, grass shrimp, and any fish that is smaller than they are except members of their own species. There are many different species of African Cichlids so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding one that you like.

nothing’s going to fit in to that small a tank that’ll eat feeders.
plus feeding feeders to your fish is a bad idea in general. they are usually highly fatty, disease ridden and poorly nutritious.
i’d much rather reccommend a diet of frozen foods (bloodworms , krill, etc) or prepared ratons, or live worms/shrimps. these are almost infinately better for your fish’s health.
and if you’re just doing this to impress your friends…
then jog off, pecker!

African Cichlids are aggressive, though mainly herbivorous, so feeding them a diet of fish would be very unhealthy. If you’re looking for a piscivore for such a small tank, consider some of the smaller species of Dwarf Pike Cichlid (C. reagani is small and common). Because they are smaller (about 3 inches), Guppy fry would be a good option… You could get a few female Guppies and a male Guppy and let them breed, allowing the Pike to gorge itself. Also, consider a Leopard Ctenopoma (Ctenopoma arcutirostre). It would be more than happy to gobble up Guppies, but be sure to give it plenty of cover from plants (live or fake).
